Smile every day!!

The colour of your front door should make you smile, bring you joy and energise you!

Traditionally however the colour has been chosen to make a statement about who you are to the outside world.

For example a black door will express that a home of order, control and simple elegance lies within.

Or an orange door apparently tells everybody that you are a social butterfly and that you love entertaining!

If you want to improve the curb appeal of your home you should paint it red as it signals a hospitable home.

If you want to make an impression when you greet visitors you should not paint it grey as it is screams that you are indecisive.

However feel free to paint it a colour that makes you happy or inspires you. You will be the one who looks at this front door more frequently than any neighbour.

You will be the one who passes in and out of it more often than any guests. You will feel its energy as you walk in tired after a long day or run out to catch the bus for your 10 hour shift at work.

Ask yourself what colour would you like to greet you every time you pull up out front. What is the colour that comes from your heart? What colour puts a smile on your face when you have had a bad day?

The psychology of colours is interesting .

White is said to symbolise a fresh start and reflects your new life, baby, job or marriage.

Purple is associated with spiritual energy and perfect if you want your home to be a low energy place for quiet contemplation and relaxation.

Green represents the earth and is associated with growth, balance and total harmony.

Yellow  can cheer you up and fill you with hope and mental clarity.

Blue inspires calm and focus, growth and prosperity.

Red is a powerful, warm energy and some believe a red door protects the occupants from evil.

Black can evoke emotions such as sadness and anger.

If you are thinking of painting your front door choose a colour that inspires you- whether it is to feel happy, creative, safe, loved or belonging- or whatever else you choose to feel. Ignore what is traditional and listen to your heart!!
