Marble Fireplace Renovation

Our 140 year old original Carrera marble fireplace was very stained and there were large cracks at the joins.

Its original Victorian fascia and coal box were not practical for burning wood logs that could create the required heating.

Prior to renovation the chimney was inspected and serviced by a professional chimney sweep.

The marble pieces were dismantled and taken away to sit in an acid bath for about 2 weeks by Balgowlah Fireplaces.

The original Victorian fascia and coal box were removed also.

Then the hearth was cleaned out - 140 years of soot !!

A new firebox and a modern Victorian Fascia were installed along with the cleaned marble mantle.

The result is a magnificently restored Carrera marble mantlepiece that burns several wood logs very efficiently.
